Dr Cathy Christie BM BS, BMedSci (Hons), MRCP (UK), FRCP, MRCGP, DPDerm is a Consultant Dermatologist with over 25 years’ experience in dermatology and skin surgery. She combines extensive NHS and private practice with a longstanding commitment to medical education, skin cancer management, and patient-centred dermatological care.
Dr Christie graduated in Medicine from the University of Nottingham in 1989 before completing postgraduate physician training in Cambridge and Manchester, becoming a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1993. She subsequently trained in General Practice, becoming a GP partner in Hampshire, while developing a specialist interest in dermatology. In 1998, she joined the Dermatology Department in Portsmouth and later completed the Diploma in Practical Dermatology at Cardiff University with Merit, before transitioning full-time into specialist dermatology.
Today, Dr Christie practises as a Consultant Dermatologist at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust where she provides expert medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Her clinical practice encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of common inflammatory skin conditions, skin cancer, sun damage, skin surgery, cosmetic dermatology and facial rejuvenation.
Dr Christie has recently joined the specialist team at Prema Health, where she offers comprehensive dermatology consultations and treatment for adults and children. She holds regular clinics at Prema Health, including one Saturday clinic each month, providing patients with greater flexibility and access to expert dermatological care.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Christie is recognised nationally for her contribution to dermatology education. She teaches medical students, GPs and dermatology trainees, has served on several British Association of Dermatologists committees, and led the development of the BAD CESR Framework, supporting experienced dermatologists in achieving consultant accreditation through the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) pathway.
